Weekly Funding Opportunities Listing – January 10, 2012

Below are funding opportunities of interest that I have learned about/received RFP notifications about in the past week that I wanted to share.

Agriculture

Deadline: January 31, 2012 (for pre-proposals)

The purpose of CIG is to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies, while leveraging the Federal investment in environmental enhancement and protection in conjunction with agricultural production. CIG projects are expected to lead to the transfer of conservation technologies, management systems, and innovative approaches into NRCS policy, technical manuals, guides, and references, or to the private sector. CIG does not fund research projects. Projects intended to test hypotheses do not qualify for a CIG grant. CIG is used to apply or demonstrate previously proven technology. It is a vehicle to stimulate development and adoption of conservation approaches or technologies thathave been studied sufficiently to indicate a high likelihood of success, and that are a candidate for eventual technology transfer or institutionalization.

Arts

**An organization may submit only one application through one of the following FY 2013 Grants for Arts Projects categories: Art Works or Challenge America Fast-Track.

NEA – Challenge America Fast-Track

Deadline: May 24, 2012

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2013. The Challenge America Fast-Track category offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Age alone (e.g., youth, seniors) does not qualify a group as underserved; at least one of the underserved characteristics noted above also must be present. Grants are available for professional arts programming and for projects that emphasize the potential of the arts in community development. This category encourages and supports the following two outcomes: •Engagement: Engaging the public with diverse and excellent art. •Livability: The strengthening of communities through the arts.

NEA GAP – Arts Works

Deadline: March 8, 2012

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2013. The NEA's guiding principle is embodied in one sentence: "Art works." "Art works" is a noun; the creation of works of art by artists. "Art works" is a verb; art works on and within people to change and inspire them. "Art works" is a statement; arts jobs are real jobs that are part of the real economy. Art Works encourages and supports the following four outcomes: •Creation: The creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, •Engagement: Public engagement with diverse and excellent art, •Learning: Lifelong learning in the arts, and •Livability: The strengthening of communities through the arts.

Employment

Deadline: February 3, 2012 (Concept Paper)

Signature Employment Grants are awarded nationally to fund new pilot initiatives, demonstration projects or social ventures that lead to the generation of new ideas to solve the high unemployment and underemployment of individuals with disabilities. Preference is given for interventions that overcome specific employment barriers related to long-term dependence on public assistance, advance competitive employment in a cost-effective manner, or launch a social enterprise or individual entrepreneurship project. Signature grants are not intended to fund project expansions or bring proven projects to new communities, unless there is a significant scale, scope or replicable component. Innovation lies at the core of all signature employment grants.
