Weekly Funding Opportunities Listing – January 3, 2012

Happy New Year!  I hope that the start of 2012 finds you refreshed personally and professionally.  I had fun setting goals for the upcoming year over the holidays some of which are related to this blog and the way that DH Leonard Consulting presents grant related articles, funding opportunities, and other related information to you.  I hope that you find the changes helpful in the upcoming months as I roll them out.

Below are funding opportunities of interest that I have learned about/received RFP notifications about in the past week that I wanted to share.

Disability

Deadline: March 15, 2012

The Ruderman Family Foundation has established the Ruderman Prize in Disability to support the pursuit of Excellence and Innovation, in services, advocacy and support of Jews with disabilities worldwide. The Foundation seeks to recognize organizations anywhere in the world that support the Foundation’s goals of: 1) promoting the full inclusion of all persons with disabilities; and 2) increasing public awareness of both the contributions and needs of persons with disabilities worldwide. The Foundation wants to invite nominations or applications by innovative, forward thinking organizations which provide or promote programs that raise awareness or promote inclusion for Jewish individuals with disabilities.

Victim Advocacy

Deadline: February 14, 2012

This grant opportunity offers up to six first-year awards of $35,000 for the development of State Victim Assistance Academies (SVAA) that will provide comprehensive, academically based, fundamental education and training for victim assistance providers, victim advocates, criminal justice personal, and allied professionals who routinely work with victims of crime. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment from the state Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) victim assistance and compensation program offices to help develop the Academy.

Youth

Deadline: January 27, 2012

What is the purpose?
·           To fund Kick Butts Day events that would not take place if not for additional funding.
·           To engage youth across the country on Kick Butts Day, and ensure that Kick Butts Day events will happen in every state (March 21, 2012).
·           To ensure that there are even more Kick Butts Day events than usual in 2012. Our goal is to have over 1,100 events!

What can you use the grant for?
·           Local transportation for youth participating in event;
·           Administrative expenses such as communication (phone, fax, e-mail, postage), copying and print services that are directly related to event;
·           Materials needed for the event (trash bags, paper, art supplies, etc.);
·           Educational Items (brochures, palm cards, flyers etc that can be handed out at events);
·           Refreshments and recognition that are integral to the project — the total amount should not exceed $150.

Please feel free to pass this listing along to your colleagues. It may also be viewed by visiting Grantwriter's Blog directly or in your email inbox by subscribing to the email feed. If you have any funding announcements that you think would be helpful to colleagues and would like to have listed in the weekly update, please pass them along!

Best wishes for continued success in your grant seeking efforts!
