Below are funding opportunities of interest that I have
learned about/received RFP notifications about in the past week that I wanted
to share.
Arts
Deadline: March 1,
2012
Through Our Town, subject to the availability of funding, the
National Endowment for the Arts will provide a limited number of grants,
ranging from $25,000 to $150,000, for creative placemaking projects that
contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform them into
lively, beautiful, and sustainable places with the arts at their core. Our
Town will invest in creative and innovative projects in which communities,
together with their arts and design organizations and artists, seek to:
- Improve their quality of life.
- Encourage creative activity.
- Create community identity and a sense
of place.
- Revitalize local economies.
Environment/Education
Deadline: January
27, 2012
The America 's Great Outdoors: Connecting
Youth to the Outdoors Initiative will leverage federal dollars with additional
contributions from corporations, foundations and other non-federal sources to
provide critical financial support for new conservation job training programs.
The initiative is modeled on existing successful programs, such as Federal
Youth Conservation Corps and Public Lands Corps, to achieve both work and
environmental learning goals through hands-on implementation of habitat
restoration, assessment, monitoring, and other conservation related projects.
Fire Departments
FEMA - SAFER “Get Ready” Guides
The purpose
of the Recruitment and Retention grants is to assist fire departments and/or
statewide or local volunteer firefighter interest organizations with the
recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters who are involved with, or
trained in, the operations of firefighting and emergency response. These grants are intended to create a net increase
in the number of trained, certified, and competent firefighters capable of
safely responding to emergencies within the grantee’s geographic response area.
The purpose
of the Hiring grants is to improve or restore local fire departments’ staffing
and deployment capabilities so they may more effectively respond to
emergencies.
Deadline: Yet to be released
