Weekly Funding Opportunities Listing – November 29, 2011

Below are funding opportunities of interest that I have learned about/received RFP notifications about in the past week that I wanted to share.

Boating

Deadline: December 30, 2011

Key requirements of RBFF’s grant application guidelines include introducing boating and fishing to minorities and underserved communities. Special consideration is given to programs that:
  • Offer multiple on-the-water learning opportunities.
  • Encourage long-term involvement of participants.
  • Foster multi-generational participation, e.g., engaging seniors as youth mentors.
  • Provide adequate screening, selection and training of staff, instructors and volunteers (including a criminal background check).
  • Promote conservation education and include at least one conservation experience that actively engages participants in a hands-on activity.
  • Provide inclusive programming.
  • Support existing RBFF partnerships
Housing

Deadline: January 18, 2012

The overarching purpose of the Lead Based Paint Hazard Control Program and the Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program is to assist states, Native American Tribes, cities, counties/parishes, or other units of local government in undertaking comprehensive programs to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately owned rental or owner-occupied housing, with the exception that the Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program is targeted for urban jurisdictions with the greatest lead-based paint hazard control needs.

Musuems

Deadline: **The deadline to submit an application for the 2012 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) has been extended to 11:59 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2011.**
All types of museums may participate: aquariums; arboreta, botanical gardens and nature centers; art museums/centers; children’s museums; historic houses and sites; history, science and natural history museums; science technology centers and planetariums; specialized museums; and zoos. Institutions with fully surveyed living animal collections (such as those accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association) may use CAP to assess the conservation needs of their non-living collections only.
CAP is designed to serve only those museums whose collections and facilities can be assessed in a two-day period. Museums whose collections and/or facilities cannot be surveyed within two days should apply for a general conservation survey grant through the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ (IMLS) Conservation Project Support program.

Please feel free to pass this listing along to your colleagues. It may also be viewed by visiting Grantwriter's Blog directly or in your email inbox by subscribing to the email feed. If you have any funding announcements that you think would be helpful to colleagues and would like to have listed in the weekly update, please pass them along!

Best wishes for continued success in your grant seeking efforts!
